Taking note of these two quotes written 40 years apart on separate continents with the former articulated by a Catholic and the latter by a Protestant. Based on these words, one must see the problem before they can arrive at a solution. However, one must gaze nearby, but not necessarily directly at the problem, to recognize a solution. It sounds a lot like reframing.
