How to understand folders and file formats:

Folders

CMYK files should be used in projects that will be professionally printed in 4-color process (offset or digital).

RGB files should be used in web and screen-based applications including Microsoft Office.

Social Media files should be used as avatars on social media platforms like instagram or Snapchat.

File Formats

.ai and .eps are vector-based files that are most often used for printed materials and are infinitely scalable (CMYK).

.svg is a vector-based file for web and app development usage (RGB). 

.png is a raster file that should be used most web and onscreen applications (RGB). It has the option of a transparent background. 

.jpg should be used in Microsoft applications when a transparent background is not needed (RGB).
